Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Morrison Rings (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
This policy covers morrisonrings.com and our dealings with customers and enquirers.
Who we are
Morrison Rings is a sustainable jewellery brand based in Point Grey, Vancouver, BC, operated by Daniel M. Cook. You can reach us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you contact us, we collect what you choose to share, typically your name, email address, phone number, and anything you tell us in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web server and security layer record limited technical information when you visit (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view) for security, diagnostics, and keeping the site running. This is standard operational logging.
Cookies and similar technologies. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Some essential and security cookies may still be set. For example, by our content delivery and security provider (Cloudflare) to protect the site, or by WordPress if you log in. These are necessary for the site to work securely.
Embedded content. Some pages embed content from other services, such as videos or maps. When you view it, that service receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.
Google Maps. Our Map page shows an interactive map from Google Maps, which loads automatically when you open the page. To send you the map, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address, browser details and the parts of the map you view. Google handles that information under the Google Privacy Policy. We don’t send Google anything else about you, and other pages show our own drawing of the routes instead, which makes no request to Google.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your enquiries;
- keep our website and hosting infrastructure secure and functioning; and
- meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run our business, and they may process personal information on our behalf under appropriate safeguards. For example, our hosting and infrastructure provider, our DNS and security provider (Cloudflare), our domain registrar (Namecheap), and our email and productivity provider (Google Workspace). We share only what’s necessary for them to perform their function.
Where your information is stored
We host on Canadian infrastructure, and we prioritise keeping customer and website data within Canada wherever practical. Some service providers may process limited data outside Canada; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains appropriately protected.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and business records). When it’s no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it. As a general guideline, we retain business and tax records for 7 years to meet financial and legal obligations.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA, you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
- ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete; and
- withdraw consent to our use of your information, subject to legal and contractual limits.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled a concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the data entrusted to us with care, such as keeping personal information out of tools that would use it for unrelated purposes.
Children
Our website is directed at adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Links to other sites
Our website may link to third-party sites. We’re not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted here, with the effective date below. Material changes will be reflected in an updated date.
